A LeTourneau University student has helped raise more than $5,200 so far for Hiway 80 Rescue Mission by encouraging fellow students to donate leftover money on their university meal cards.
Senior Drew McCoy is teaming with Corner Café's food vendor, Bon Appetite, to purchase food for the mission at wholesale prices with the donated funds from students' Flex money.
Flex money is a prepaid account for students to purchase food on campus each semester. Unused Flex money is sent to LETU at the end of the semester, spokeswoman Janet Ragland said.
